Problem Statement

While the phrase ‘influencer marketing’ was unheard of a decade ago, it has since become one of the fastest-growing industries in India and across the world. In India, it is currently valued at Rs 900 crore, and is expected to grow to Rs 2,200 crore by 2025. Brand advertisements are one of the major sources of money flow in this industry. StumperAds aims to tap into this prospective colossal market and provide a platform where brands and influencers can connect directly.

Role

Timeframe

Objectives & Goals

The manifesto of StumperAds is to allow brands to hire native influencers to promote their products/services.
Similar platforms do exist in India. But with StumperAds, the difference lies in giving the brand and influencers complete control over their campaigns and eliminate any middlemen.

Style Guide

Features & Functionalities

At StumperAds, influencers can join the registered influencers in our database for the brands to choose from. StumperAds provides an interface for both, influencers and brands. Its merits were that it had ultra-fast campaign launch, multiple campaigns, direct connect between influencers and brands and complete transparency. Here, a brand can select any influencer of their choice and choose what type of campaign they want to initiate and add it their cart. After which they can check-out and make the payments. It is after this step that the campaign is on its way to launch.

Research & user needs

The need for 2 kinds of research was indispensable before beginning the process. The first one being research about the user base and how the product would respond in the market. This research was achieved by conducting public surveys and making a detailed study about previously existing adversaries in the market. However, this research did not come under my responsibilities.

I was the sole person responsible for the next kind of research. This required me to understand and anticipate the user response in addition to understanding the requirements of my client and recognise their ideas/vision of the project.

This was done using the help of detailed discussions with my clients even ahead of prototyping.

Competitor Analysis,
Unique Selling Point/Proposition (USP)

1. Influencer.com

  • It is an internationally acclaimed influencer brand that boasts of insights-based creative strategies, which combine influencer marketing with paid media distribution. They also claim a guaranteed return on investment.
  • In terms of features, the key difference between StumperAds and Influencer, apart from geographic location, is extensive and mass campaigns.
  • In terms of their website, which was an area of my concern, the colour palette, visual balance of all elements was pretty well balanced. Except, the font size in most places seems too small to comprehend what is written.

2. Vedantu

  • It is an Indian influencer marketing enterprise that claims a reach of 70k+ influencers across India. Out of their various features, real-time performance tracking and ROI.
  • In terms of features, the distinct difference between StumperAds and Influencer is the scale of influence. The belief, at StumperAds, is that native and regional campaigns create a higher impact on sales and work better for brands.
  • In terms of their website, the colour palette is pleasant on the eyes. However, the styles seem plain and inconsistent towards the end of the homepage, lending a bad impression on the eyes.

Ultra-fast campaign launch and the ability to connect with native influencers (consequently, a direct audience) is the USP of StumperAds.

It also has an extremely user-friendly and convenient website, adding to its features 😉.

The Design Process

1. Brainstorm

To ensure that you have the right information on hand before proceeding with the project definition, it is important to discuss with the clients their vision of the project and have clarity over the subject. This discussion involved a few rounds of brainstorming with the clients where we put forth our ideas and opinions and culminated those ideas into rough sketches that would be taken further in the adjoining steps.

2. Define

This step was about creating a prototype to make implementation easier but also explore plenty options without levying a heavy monetary and time cost. In this stage, I went about creating a low fidelity prototype. It included the skeletal framework of the website, the navigational characteristics and such basic yet fundamental aspects of the webpage. Designing wasn’t included in this part, which is why it is termed as low fidelity.

3. Design

This stage can be explained as synonymous to a colouring book. The outlines and frameworks that were made in the preceding phase were designed. However, there was still no actual implementation. This designing phase was the second kind of prototyping, termed high fidelity prototype. This is because I chose the colour palette, the images, graphic elements, font styles and every visual element in this phase. It gave me the freedom to explore my creative instincts and try different combinations without losing out on resources. The drafts that I created were sent to the clients for feedback and changes, if any, were made accordingly. So, the final product of this phase was a desired destination (to be achieved in implementation).

4. Development

As mentioned above, the development of the actual website becomes way less complex because of absence of issues with design. However, this development by itself too is not a simple task. It required a detailed background knowledge about various technology stacks that would come to be used in this phase. It involved both, front-end and back-end development. Configuring the content management systems, databases and frameworks was a part of it. Functionality was also added here, along with transitions and animations, to impart a hint of dynamicity. The final, ready product was then shown to the client for final feedback and approval, after which I got it ready for launch.

5. Launch

Launch of the website comprised of testing, launch and maintenance. During testing, all the developed features were tested for all kinds of scenarios, ensuring the correct and optimal functionality. Along with it, a lot of other tests were carried out to certify that the website was ready for launch. After removing all the bugs and optimising the website, it was launched.
